(More customer reviews)I think this video speaks for itself. You can see the nice circular scrape of bare metal that the kneading paddle was making on it's third use! You are correct... that is yummy Teflon coating from the pan being scraped into my dough. You can bet I won't be eating that loaf... You can also hear the lovely sounds of metal on metal contact that will be added to your kitchen ambiance with this machine.
I am willing to bet that the new "collapsible paddle" technology is the reason behind this poor performance. There is a hinge on the bottom of the paddle that enables it to fold down. This hinge introduces some wobble not seen on a regular kneading paddle. And you know what happens when poor quality products wobble... they collide. So even if it doesn't scrape on the first use as mine did, it will probably start to scrape after some use (hopefully not before your amazon return window expires). The hinge on the paddle is also not the only thing that wobbles... the hinge for the top cover wobbles so much that it hits the top of the machine where it shouldn't and creates marks in the nice shiny stainless. This wobbly hinge has been mentioned in other similar breadman reviews and is a common problem.
Maybe I got a defective unit... but I won't be risking it... sending it back and exchanging for another brand. Good Luck!
